Jam Nuts

Jam Nuts are thinner nuts used where space is limited or for locking/adjustment arrangements with a primary nut or threaded component.

Design

Jam nuts have reduced thickness compared with regular nuts and are used for adjustment, locking or clearance-sensitive applications.

Thread & Dimensions

Nominal diameter, thread pitch, width across flats and thickness are critical procurement details.

Materials & Grades

Applicable carbon steel, alloy steel and stainless steel options can be evaluated according to the required specification.

Applications

Mechanical adjustment, lock arrangements, machinery and space-constrained assemblies.

Standards

The governing dimensional and material standards depend on the selected nut type and project requirement.

ASTM A194/A194M — High-Pressure / High-Temperature Nuts

Where the nut is specified for high-pressure or high-temperature service, ASTM A194/A194M is a key material specification covering carbon steel, alloy steel and martensitic/austenitic stainless steel nuts. ASTM currently lists A194/A194M-26 as active. Exact grade/class, size and service requirements must be matched to the governing specification; ASTM states that grade substitutions require purchaser permission.

Manufacturing & Sourcing

BCUBE operates through manufacturing and sourcing capabilities. Requirements can be evaluated from drawing, material, grade, standard, dimensions and quantity.

Certification & Inspection

EN 10204:3.1 material certificates and Indian or international third-party inspection can be supported where required by the order and agreed inspection scope.

Current & Previous Editions

Where a standard has multiple editions, BCUBE will identify the current edition and retain relevant previous editions for project-specific procurement searches. The client's approved drawing, specification and purchase order remain the controlling documents.
